Introduction / Background:
Respected & Hon. “Shri Kantisen Shroff – ‘Kaka’ (as he was fondly known) - was a visionary, philosopher, thinker, social activist, agriculturalist, industrialist, environmentalist, and philanthropist – thus a multidimensional human being who was dedicated to the wellbeing of society. He made a huge contribution by working significantly for the holistic development of Kutch and established and guided many institutions for sustainable development. His extraordinary wisdom, vision, and empathy have led to exemplary efforts in social development for more than 50 years in Kutch and live on.
He was an inspiring source for his perfection and systematic work in social and environmental fields and at the same time, he was a great technocrat, who would find innovative, out-of-box, very cost-effective solutions to very complicated problems and well known for his expertise in the Indian chemical industry and science and lead almost 40 years in one of the leading chemical industry in India (Excel Industries).
Sustainable development and responsible use of natural resources is a subject very dear to him. To learn, experiment, and create multipliable models of land development, water harvesting and management, skill development, drought management, cattle management, social forestry, integrated village wealth generation, Mr. Shroff initiated work with Vivekananda Research and Training Institute at Mandvi, Kutch, Gujarat in 1975. Another underlying and very far-reaching goal of VRTI was to build a large cadre of devoted and knowledgeable people who now are giving shape to his dream of self-reliant rural India.
He was conferred the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by ChemExcil in 2011, for his contribution to the development and growth of the Indian Chemical Industry. He was the first recipient of the ENVIRONMENTALIST OF THE YEAR: 1983” award instituted by the CHEMTECH Foundation - in recognition of his pioneering work on environmental issues. He was chosen as ‘MAN OF THE YEAR’ for 1995 by “THE WEEK” magazine of Malayala Manorama and the list goes on.
Shroff Family is committed to strengthening young meritorious minds to higher education. Considering, Kaka’s love for Science Shroff Family along with Agrocel Industries Private Limited launched “SHRI. KANTISEN SHROFF – SCHOLARSHIP” for “Science Students” of Kutch, Gujarat, India.
This scholarship aims to support 10 meritorious science students in Kutch and empower them to continue their studies with the financial support of Indian Rupees of 50,000 (Fifty Thousand rupees) each.

આદરણીય "શ્રી કાંતિસેન શ્રોફ - 'કાકા' (આ નામે તેઓ પ્રેમપૂર્વક જાણીતા હતા) - એક સ્વપ્નદ્રષ્ટા, ફિલસૂફ, વિચારક, સામાજિક કાર્યકર, કૃષિવાદી, ઉદ્યોગપતિ, પર્યાવરણવાદી અને પરોપકારી એવા, એક બહુપરીમાણીય માનવી; જે સમાજની સુખાકારી માટે સમર્પિત હતા. તેમણે કચ્છના સર્વાંગી વિકાસ માટે નોંધપાત્ર કામ કરીને બહોળું યોગદાન આપ્યું તથા ટકાઉ વિકાસ માટે ઘણી સંસ્થાઓની સ્થાપના કરી અને માર્ગદર્શન આપ્યું. તેમનાં અસાધારણ શાણપણ, દૂરંદેશી અને સહ-અનુભૂતિએ કચ્છમાં સામાજિક વિકાસમાં 50 વર્ષથી પણ વધુ સમય માટે અનુકરણીય આગેવાની આપી છે. જે હજી જીવંત છે.
તેઓ તેમની સંપૂર્ણતા અને પધ્ધતિસરનાં કાર્ય માટે સામાજિક અને પર્યાવરણીય ક્ષેત્રોમાં એક પ્રેરણાદાયી સ્ત્રોત હતા અને તે જ સમયે, તેઓ એક મહાન ટેકનોક્રેટ હતા, જેઓ ખૂબ જ જટિલ સમસ્યાઓ માટે નવીન, આઉટ-ઓફ-બોક્સ, ખૂબ કિફાયતી ખર્ચ સાથેના ઉકેલો શોધતા હતા. ભારતીય રાસાયણિક ઉદ્યોગ અને વિજ્ઞાનમાં તેઓ તેમની નિપુણતા માટે જાણીતા હતા. ભારતના અગ્રણી કેમિકલ ઉદ્યોગમાંના એક (એક્સેલ ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝ)માં તેમણે લગભગ 40 વર્ષ સુધી નેતૃત્વ સંભાળ્યું હતું.
ટકાઉ વિકાસ અને કુદરતી સંસાધનોનો જવાબદાર ઉપયોગ તેમને ખૂબ જ પ્રિય વિષય હતો. જમીન વિકાસ, જળ સંચય અને વ્યવસ્થાપન, કૌશલ્ય વિકાસ, દુષ્કાળ વ્યવસ્થાપન, પશુ વ્યવસ્થાપન, સામાજિક વનીકરણ, સંકલિત ગ્રામીણ સંપત્તિ નિર્માણના અનેકવિધ મોડેલો શીખવા, પ્રયોગ કરવા અને બનાવવા માટે, શ્રી શ્રોફે માંડવી,કચ્છ ખાતે વિવેકાનંદ સંશોધન અને તાલીમ સંસ્થા 1975માં સ્થાપી,કામ શરૂ કર્યું. VRTI નું અન્ય એક અંતર્ગત અને ખૂબ જ દૂરગામી ધ્યેય સમર્પિત અને જાણકાર લોકોની વિશાળ કેડરનું નિર્માણ કરવાનું હતું, જેઓ હવે તેમના આત્મનિર્ભર ગ્રામીણ ભારતના સ્વપ્નને આકાર આપી રહ્યા છે.
ભારતીય કેમિકલ ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીના વિકાસ અને વૃદ્ધિમાં તેમના યોગદાન બદલ વર્ષ 2011માં ChemExcil દ્વારા તેમને “લાઇફટાઇમ અચીવમેન્ટ એવોર્ડ” એનાયત કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. CHEMTECH ફાઉન્ડેશન દ્વારા આપવામાં આવતા "ENVIRONMENTALIST OF THE YEAR: 1983"ના તેઓ સર્વ પ્રથમ પ્રાપ્તકર્તા હતા. આ પારિતોષિક પર્યાવરણીય મુદ્દાઓ પરના તેમનાં પાયારૂપ કામને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને આપવામાં આવ્યો હતો. મલયાલા મનોરમાના “ધ વીક” મેગેઝિન દ્વારા તેમને વર્ષ 1995 માટે ‘મેન ઓફ ધ યર’ તરીકે પસંદ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા અને આ યાદી હજુ ઘણી આગળ વધે છે.
શ્રોફ પરિવાર કચ્છના મેધાવી યુવાઓને ઉચ્ચ શિક્ષણ માટે સશક્ત કરવા પ્રતિબદ્ધ છે. એટલે જ તેમણે એગ્રોસેલ ઈન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝ પ્રાઈવેટ લિમિટેડ સાથે મળીને, પૂ. કાકાના વિજ્ઞાન માટેના પ્રેમને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને કચ્છના "વિજ્ઞાન વિષયના વિદ્યાર્થીઓ" માટેની આ “શ્રી કાન્તિસેન શ્રોફ સ્કૉલરશિપ” શરુ કરી છે.
હાલના સમયમાં વિજ્ઞાન પ્રવાહ સાથે આગળ વધવા માંગતા કચ્છ જિલ્લાના વિદ્યાર્થીઓ માટે આ સ્કૉલરશિપ યોજના ખુબ જ ઉપયોગી સાબિત થશે.
આ સ્કૉલરશિપનું ધ્યેય કચ્છના 10 હોંશિયાર અને જરૂરિયાતમંદ વિજ્ઞાન પ્રવાહના વિદ્યાર્થીઓને 50,000 રૂપિયા (દરેકને પચાસ હજાર રૂપિયા)ના આર્થિક સહયોગ સાથે તેમનો અભ્યાસ ચાલુ રાખવા માટે સક્ષમ કરવાનું છે.
Introduction / Background:
Respected & Hon. “Shri Manoj Dhansukhbhai Gohil – ‘Manojbhai’ (as he was fondly known) - was an industrialist, philanthropist, advisor, and problem-solver –who had dedicated his life to the wellbeing of the people of Kutch especially for the community of Banni & Pachham. Manoj Bhai served as a volunteer with Kaka and Kaki in his early years and served the community in multiple ways. During 1975 - 1980, he was involved in major relief work in a drought-ridden Kutch region organizing camps that prepared and provided sukhadi (a sweet made of wheat flour and jaggery) and chaas (buttermilk) to locals.
His commitment to the welfare of all was once again brought to the fore in 1987, when Manoj Bhai, a young man in his late 20s noticed thousands of cattle at risk of losing lives to the famine. The need of the hour was immediate food arrangements as no animal feed was available in Gujarat. He sprang into action during this crisis, and the hunt for cattle feed took him to another state, Punjab. He managed to arrange a train-load of feed for animals. After a painstaking process of government approvals, disinfecting the food (deworming the feed at his own premises), he managed to supply clean cattle feed to Gaushala, where thousands of cattle were being taken care of.
Beyond the above, he always believed in promoting practical education. He proved that people having practical knowledge can run the chemical industries in Dhordo. He inspired many community members to send their kids to schools for education. As Dipesh Bhai (CMD of Agrocel & the closest companion of Manojbhai) remembers fondly, “His heart beat for Banni and he’d go to any extent to serve them, He would step in when everyone gave up and not stop until success was achieved.” He remained true to his commitment to society and continued serving the region. Manojbhai Gohil – The Dreamer, The Magician and the problem solver. Manoj Bhai continues to live in his legacy in every part of the Group in an ever-running canteen, in thousands of hearts at Banni and, of course, in every adversity that was turned into an opportunity.

માનનીય "શ્રી મનોજ ધનસુખભાઈ ગોહિલ - 'મનોજભાઈ' (આ નામે તેઓ પ્રેમપૂર્વક જાણીતા હતા) પરોપકારી ઉદ્યોગપતિ હોવાની સાથે, તેઓ એક સાચા સલાહકાર અને સમસ્યાનું નિરાકરણ કરનારી વ્યક્તિ હતા. જેમણે પોતાનું જીવન કચ્છના લોકોની સુખાકારી માટે, ખાસ કરીને બન્ની અને પચ્છમના સમુદાય માટે સમર્પિત કર્યું હતું.
મનોજભાઈએ તેમના શરૂઆતના વર્ષોમાં પૂ.કાકા અને કાકી સાથે સ્વયંસેવક તરીકે સેવા આપી હતી અને વિવિધ રીતે સમુદાયની સેવા કરી હતી. 1975 - 1980 દરમિયાન, તેઓ દુષ્કાળગ્રસ્ત કચ્છ જિલ્લામાં આયોજિત મુખ્ય રાહતકાર્યમાં સામેલ હતા, રાહતકાર્યની આ શિબિરોમાં સ્થાનિક લોકોને સુખડી (ઘઉંના લોટ અને ગોળની બનેલી મીઠાઈ) અને છાશ તૈયાર કરીને પૂરી પાડવામાં આવતી હતી.
સૌના કલ્યાણ માટેની તેમની પ્રતિબદ્ધતા ફરી એકવાર 1987માં સામે આવી. ત્યારે ઉંમરની વીસીના દાયકામાં હતા એવા યુવાન મનોજભાઈએ જોયું કે હજારો પશુઓ ઉપર દુષ્કાળમાં જીવ ગુમાવવાનું જોખમ છે. એમના માટે તાત્કાલિક ખોરાકની વ્યવસ્થા થાય એ મોટી કટોકટી હતી. કારણ કે એ સમયે ગુજરાતમાં કોઈ પશુ આહાર ઉપલબ્ધ ન હતો. આ કટોકટી દરમિયાન મનોજભાઈ તરત જ સક્રિય થયા. પશુઓના ચારાની શોધ તેમને બીજાં રાજ્ય એટલે કે છેક પંજાબ લઈ ગઈ. ત્યાંથી તેમણે પ્રાણીઓ માટે આહાર ટ્રેન-લોડ કરીને મોકલવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરી. સરકારની મંજૂરીની મહેનતભરી પ્રક્રિયા પછી, ખોરાકને જંતુમુક્ત કરીને (એ પશુઆહારને યોગ્ય પ્રક્રિયાથી પોતાને ત્યાં જ જંતુમુક્ત કરીને) આખરે તેમણે ગૌશાળામાં સ્વચ્છ પશુઆહાર પૂરો પાડ્યો. જ્યાં હજારો પશુઓની સંભાળ રાખવામાં આવી રહી હતી.
ઉપરોક્ત બાબતો ઉપરાંત, તેઓ હંમેશા વ્યાવહારિક શિક્ષણને પ્રોત્સાહન આપવામાં માનતા હતા. તેમણે સાબિત કર્યું કે વ્યાવહારિક જ્ઞાન ધરાવતા લોકો ધોરડોમાં કેમિકલ ઉદ્યોગ ચલાવી શકે છે. તેમણે સમુદાયના ઘણા લોકોને તેમનાં બાળકોને શિક્ષણ માટે શાળાઓમાં મોકલવા માટે પ્રેરણા આપી.
જેમ કે દીપેશભાઈ (એગ્રોસેલના સીએમડી અને મનોજભાઈના સૌથી નજીકના સાથી) પ્રેમપૂર્વક યાદ કરે છે, "તેમનું હૃદય બન્ની માટે ધડકતું હતું અને તેઓ તેમની સેવા કરવા માટે કોઈપણ હદ સુધી જતા હતા. જ્યારે બધાએ હાર માની લીધી ત્યારે તેઓ આગળ વધ્યા અને સફળતા પ્રાપ્ત ન થાય ત્યાં સુધી અટક્યા નહીં. " તેઓ સમાજ પ્રત્યેની તેમની પ્રતિબદ્ધતા પ્રત્યે કટિબદ્ધ રહ્યા અને વિસ્તારની સેવા કરવાનું ચાલુ રાખ્યું. મનોજભાઈ ગોહિલ - એક સ્વપ્નદ્રષ્ટા, જાદુગર અને સમસ્યા હલ કરનાર !
આ વ્યાવસાયિક જૂથના દરેક ભાગમાં, પછી એ સતત ચાલતી કેન્ટીન હોય કે બન્નીના રહેવાસીઓનાં હજારો હૃદય ; તકમાં બદલાયેલી દરેક તકલીફમાં મનોજભાઈ આજે પણ એક વિરાસતરૂપે જીવંત છે. કચ્છના મેધાવી યુવાઓને ઉચ્ચ શિક્ષણ માટે સશક્ત કરવા શ્રોફ પરિવાર પ્રતિબદ્ધ છે. એટલે જ મનોજભાઈના શિક્ષણ તથા બન્ની અને પચ્છમ પ્રત્યેના પ્રેમને ધ્યાનમાં લઈને શ્રોફ પરિવારે એગ્રોસેલ ઈન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝ પ્રાઈવેટ લિમિટેડ સાથે મળીને, ગુજરાત રાજ્યના કચ્છ જિલ્લાના બન્ની અને પચ્છમ વિસ્તારના જરૂરિયાતમંદ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ માટે "શ્રી મનોજ ગોહિલ સ્કૉલરશિપ" શરૂ કરી છે.
