Pencil Scapes

Imagine a cloudy winter’s morning
all soft and tender.
This is the quality he evokes
using his favorite pencil
now, in the service of a new style.
There are no sharp lines.
Even the rocks hum softly.
He no longer signs his work
as KCS. He is Sen once again.
As he was in the days of his youth.
When asked why, he answers:
I am finally good enough to use Sen again.
